If you wish to report deductions on your income tax return, you must use a Form Schedule A with Form 1040. You should use Schedule A (Form 1040) to figure your itemized deductions. In most cases, your federal income tax will be less if you take the larger of your itemized deductions or your standard deduction. That means you will save income tax.

If you use itemize deductions Form Schedule A, you can deduct a part of your medical and dental expenses and un- reimbursed employee business expenses, and amounts you paid for certain taxes, interest,contributions, and miscellaneous expenses. On top of that, You can also deduct certain casualty and theft losses.

If you donated to Haiti Relief Fund, you may qualify for itemized deductions under Schedule A. Only Certain Cash Contributions for Haiti Relief Can Be Deducted. You can only quality for deductions from the contributions
made after January 11, 2010, and before March 1, 2010, for the relief of victims in areas affected by the January 12, 2010, earthquake in Haiti. Type of Contributions include contributions made by cash, check, money order,
credit card, charge card, debit card, or via cell phone.
