I always plan in novel ways to give my dear and near some unusual gifts on special occasions to surprise them.
The gift that is given with love is the most precious one. Hand-made items - be it small or big, is always an unusual gift. Buying something thoughtful from the gift shop is also received well. You can buy something that the recipient will cherish and preserve for a long time to come.
Personalized collages, photos that remind good times, music collections – all these show that you care. They will also be remembered for a long time. Put some effort and try to learn something about the person’s likes so that you can work on it and make your gift based on that.
It is not a rule to give gifts to persons only on their birthdays or anniversaries. It will really be an unusual gift if it is given just to cheer them up or to let them know you are thinking of them, giving it in person or have it delivered to their doorstep.
In our crazy run for livelihood, we don’t have time for our elders. They are in need of nothing at their old age except for the comforting thought that they are not unwanted. So take time out and spend some time with those forgotten souls, see to their needs, take them out somewhere, play with them or just be there to listen to them.
