Police reported that there has been an explosion at the Kleen Energy Power Plant at 1340 River Road.
The explosion happened shortly before noon.
Black smoke could be seen coming from the area.
It's unclear how many injuries there are but police say there are possible fatalities. Connecticut emergency official says there are some fatalities in a power plant explosion. There were as many as 20 ambulances at the plant.
