the end of the free phone number

Submitted by satphoneguy on Sat, 11/17/2007 - 21:30.

it appears that we may be coming to the end of an era when it comes to free phone numbers in USA. netzero privateline is out of bussiness. AIM phoneline is not taking any new customers. sipnumber, calldigits, talkdigits, officedigits new customer links all redirect to ringtonumber. this new service does not provide a phone number just an extension that can be forwarded to a number. only time will tell if IPKall survives.

a hint: for now if you type: signup.talkdigits.com direct into your browser you can stil signup. of course usually when a VOIP company stops taking new signups it is only a matter of time until existing customers are cut off.

looks like GC invits will be in more demand than ever. but only way to use it if you do not have another US number is with gizmo project.
