free 10 min. calls to almost everyplace with rebtel + click2voice + your sip phone

rebtel offers one free 10 minutes call to almost any destination from the website. they give you a number to call. i you want more than one call you need to call from a different number each time. if you can spoof callerid on your outbound sip phone you can keep calling from different numbers(rebtel matchs your number in order to route the call) what if you have a SIP phone and can only recieve calls on a number in a rebtel country(US, europe etc.)?

do this:

  1.  for each call get a new IPKall number pointed to your sip phone/service from IPKall.com. please go back and delete(cancel) when finished so you do not tie up a bunch of numbers and than ikall might stop the service. this could also be a SIPnumber or any free DID in a free rebtel country.
  2.  go to the rebtel site and request a 10 minute call from your new number to almost any country(including india)
  3. how do you call out to rebtel with your new number as caller ID? use click2voice. this is a free webcallback with 10 minute calls(15 if you register.) place a call from your ipkall number to the number that rebtel gave you for the free call.
  4.  your sip phone will ring. answer. you will be conected to destination.
  5. want to call again. get a new ipkall number to replace the old.
  6. If you have the abilty to call out with spoofed callerid this is even easier. just adjust your caller id for each call and use that as your number in rebtel.

this(x-lite) is perhaps the most popular and its free:

http://www.counterpath.com/

for a free inbound number i recommend you sign up for both SIPnumber(better voice quality but some reliabilty issues) and IPKall(very reliable but in my experience not the best voice quality.) you will need to sign up for a voice service provider to get a URL for recieving calls. you can start with one of the mass market oriented ones like gizmo. do not buy anything like the inbound numbers. you can get that for free from the above. gizmo also include a softphone; you could just use that to get started it will be easier than configuing an x-lite. gizmo will give you a number like 747xxxxxxx set your IPKall and SIPnumbers to ring to that number. next get a grandcentral account(you will need an invitation if you do not have one) you than have a number in a local area code and a way to make unlimited calls to usa and canada. you can hook up an IPphone or ATA/regular phone. and you basically have what vonage and the other companies make you pay for for free. everthing you do you are going to be asked to sign up and pay for things. do not do it; just take the free service that do not ask for credit cards and piece them togher from different companies.

if all you want is to recieve calls and you want to keep it really simple ignore everything above and get an aimphoneline account.
