Treat Children Kids Cold Flu without any medicine
Do you know how to treat a Child's cold?
Recently Medicines for cold and cough have been taken off the market for children under 4, treating your kid's cold may become a little more difficult. This is the latest FDA move.
Here are some tips to treat your children with Cold and Flu.
1) Use Saline Drops or Spray sparingly: The most perfect and no side effect home medicine to cure your child's cold is nasal saline spray. Saline drops or spray can be used for children and adults of all ages (even newborns). Saline drops contains no medication; it is simply a saltwater solution, and it helps to loosen and thin secretions in the nose, making it easier to breathe.
If you are using saline drops in an infant or young child, place a couple of drops in one nostril, suction the nostril using a bulb syringe, then repeat on the other side. Do this judiciously, though - overly aggressive suctioning in infants can lead to inflammation and even slight bleeding. If you are using the drops or spray in an older child or adult, follow the instructions on the bottle.
2) Use Humidifier in Your Kid's Room: Yes, its extremely important that during cold your child is able to breathe properly. During Winter season, the air is dry because humidity is lower outside and heaters are running inside. Humidifiers can ease this dryness and give your child some fresh air to breathe. It puts moisture in the air, moistening the nasal passages and helping to loosen secretions.
3) Rest or Sleep: Letting your child take a day-off from school can be very effective. Just let them sleep or take nap. Body needs rest while fighting against the cold and flu effectively. Adults can do the same during cold.
4) Drink more water or Fluid: Drinking more water during cold really helps.
Prefer to drink water instead of juices. The best choices are water, juice or electrolyte-rich drinks, such as Gatorade or Pedialyte.
A cold is usually pretty minor and doesn't require a visit to the doctor, but it can turn into something more serious. When do you know that your child's illness is more severe than just a common cold?
There is a famous saying, a untreated cold last for 5 days and treated cold last for a week :-)
