The equity holders will definitely get paid. Now, it's just a matter of how much. Estimates are all over the place depending upon amounts given to what's won in settlements and punitive damages. I've seen a low of $2.34 and a high of $22.64. Me? I'll settle for $10+ and anything beyond that is gravy.

Oct 22nd is the hearing for WAMU to get a ruling to get the $4B deposit back. It would also seem that they could get as little as simple intrest or as much as leveraged intrest which could be as high as $8B. Also very very soon, the IRS is refunding $2.7B to $3B in tax reefunds and the IRS 12B claim is assinine and he been expunged. Both of these items brings all preferred stock into full face value and brings commons into being in the green with value. Don;t forget the $6B WMI is going after for trademark infringment alone wich $18B is being requested for treble damages. this would bring commons to about $10+ You should really consider getting in as low as you can and hold for LT capital gains.
