Do you ask the sommelier for wine recommendations?

Some people are intimadated by sommeliers, but I've found them to be very helpful. Unlike the image of the the snobby old guy in tuxedo, today's sommeliers are approachable and eager to help diners chose the best wine for their meal. They seem to be getting younger too, and I see more and more female sommeliers. A number of the sommeliers who will be judging at the 2009 Sommelier Challenge International Wine Competition are in their 20s and 30's, and 2 of the 12 are women. http://www.sommelierchallenge.com/judges_so.html
