Also, I was recently divorced but not until after I purchased my new home. My name is still on the home I used to reside in but have not lived there for over three years. Will this affect the tax credit for a new home? Debbie Kohler

A:If you own a house already, it doesnt matter if you still own it or not. You most likely wont qualify for "first time homebuyer" credit. However I still suggest you call IRS and ask them about your situation. They give prompt answers in this regard and should help you make a decision. Good luck.
